GoRecycle now buys and sells: what you can pick up at the Wangara yard

For over 10 years, GoRecycle has been the yard people bring their scrap to. You drop it off, we weigh it on certified scales, and you get paid. Clean, straightforward, no messing about. That side of the business isn’t changing.

What’s new: we sell as well

What’s new is the other direction. A lot of what comes through our gates from clear-outs, workshop pack-ups and site jobs isn’t scrap at all. It’s still good: a length of beam, a stack of aluminium plate, a rack of stainless tube, a bit of kit that just needs a clean-up.

So we sell it back on. To trades who need stock without paying new prices, to fabricators after offcuts and lengths, and to anyone who’d rather buy something solid and second-hand than order it in new. Some days it’s worth more to us sold on than scrapped, and someone else gets a fair-priced find instead of it going in a skip.

What’s on the racks

Stock changes all the time, but on a typical day the Wangara yard has:

• Aluminium offcuts, angle (L beams), plate and assorted lengths
• Stainless steel tube in long lengths
• Steel plate, large SHS and RHS, and large steel pipe
• Steel beams, PFC and U beams in assorted lengths
• Mixed lengths of all different metals and conditions

What it costs

Larger steel beams are priced between $30 and $200, depending on size. Smaller items are weighed and priced on what our exporters are paying, so they start from as little as $5. Come and look before you buy

We know why people are wary of buying second-hand metal sight-unseen. That’s exactly why we do this the same way we do everything else. You can come and look at it, ask us straight questions about where it came from, and deal with the same family-run team who weigh your scrap. Nothing’s dressed up, nothing’s hidden. If it’s not worth your time, we’ll tell you.

None of this changes what GoRecycle has always been about: a clean, swept yard where you won’t get a puncture walking to your ute, prompt payment, and people who make it easy if it’s your first time. We’re a licensed second-hand dealer in WA (Licence No. 77932, current to June 2029), so everything we buy and sell is above board.

Still buying your scrap

On the buying side, our indicative copper price ranges (as at July 2026) are:

• Bare Bright & Shiny: $8–$15/kg
• #1 Copper: $6–$14/kg
• #2 Copper (94–96% copper content): $4–$12/kg
• Insulated copper cable (priced by copper %): $1–$9/kg
